Philadelphia Eagles Chris Long has already donated 6 checks towards education to his hometown Charlottesville, VA. Chris Long grew up in Charlottesville and was moved to start an initiative after the violent protests in August. Recently, the defensive end announced that he will be donating the last 10 checks of his remaining 2017 season to various organizations that contribute towards educational equity and opportunity in St. Louis, Boston, and Philadelphia. Long chose these three cities because they were home to him during his past NFL career.  In a statement announced on his site:

“I’m playing the entire 2017 NFL season without collecting income because I believe that education is the best gateway to a better tomorrow for EVERYONE in America. I’m encouraging fans, businesses and every person with a desire to join in my pursuit of equal education opportunities for all students to make their own pledge. My goal is that through this campaign my donation will be doubled by those inspired to join the effort — because together we can accomplish more.” – Chris Long –

The Chris Long Foundation has started a Pledge 10 for Tomorrow Initiative. You can choose a city you to donate right online. CLICK HERE!!

Also, staying true to his competitive nature, Chris Long is donating an additional $50,000 to the partner charity in the city that raises the most money! It’s not just Chris Long, but also his wife Megan O’Malley he gives credit to in building his foundation. They both support and fight alongside eachother to raise awareness to build a brighter future for our youth.

“My wife and I have been passionate about education being a gateway for upward mobility and equality, I think we can all agree that equity in education can help affect change that we all want to see in this country.” – Chris Long AP-
